I think that would make for a nice balanced counter tactic.Īlso, I REALLY wish they would remove capital ships boosting at all, it leaves them very vulnerable for no tangible gain. Course the chance they could spot them might be based on Pilot skill so its not automatic naturally, just to keep in interesting. Hopefully at some point they'll continue to develop our stations and ships so that patrol ships with police scanners can "spot" SCA ships in disguise, revealing them and thus allowing your station and other faction ships to attack them. Thus it is possible if you time it right to partially disable and capture a SCA Behemoth while its still moving and before "friendly" destroyers can blow it up (which happens a lot, once they spot it they'll go after it).Īlso, apparently as of 3.0 it is no longer possible to assign laser towers to a station and thus using them as an exploit to trigger your station to fire on SCA no longer works.

This leaves it fast enough to slow up any pursuing "friendly" destroyers from catching up and destroying it, while slow enough your boarding pods (which move at 110m/s) from a couple of freighters can catch and attach to the destroyer. Trick is to kill the engines last, they boost trying to withdraw from combat (which is dumb because they'll never get away from a fighter anyway) and once they drop their own shields you can take out the generators and then kill the ship or set it up for boarding, your choice.Īlternately, you can damage but not destroy the engines to get its speed down to about 80m/s. However, SCA Behemoths are stupid, they'll burn their own shields trying to constantly boost if you let them. Shield strength on capital ships has been buffed (and it needed to be), its no longer possible for a lone fighter to take down the shields of a capital ship and kill it (though you can still disable its weapons and engines). A few crates of cargo is chump change compared to the 10 million or so i am gonna get for selling their ship to the MIN. I am always pleased to see these guys hack my station as i know they will be sat still for next 20mins playing with their cargo drones whilst i steal their ship. Once you get that +10 rep with a faction and access to some better toys SCA destroyers are just free loot. The only combat ship i have actually bought is a buzzard vanguard. In my current teladi play through i have more Behemouth destroyers than any other combat ship. You can easily capture the SCA destroyers with a fighter and a freighter. Since the Behemoths invariably try to hack the station, I make sure there's plenty of guns on the station (pulse, plasma and missiles) to take care of it. I find that gives good patrol coverage, they can handle anything except a Behemoth on their own. Not only will the ship attack, once the pirate goes hostile so will the station and any other patrols you have.Įclipse heavy fighters and Perseus light fighters in groups of 3 make good security patrols, I like having 4-6 groups set to Protect my stations. Especially if said bait ship is a Minotaur, Cerberus, Peregrine, Nemesis, or a captured Behemoth with some valuable cargo set to protect the station. Only SCA Minotaur Raiders and Behemoth Plunderers will "hack" your station storage, fighters do not.īait ships are another good trick.

Drop some laser towers, preferably Mk2s but either type will work, around your station and then place them under the station management (in map mode, select them and then assign them to "defend" the station).
